To the County of Renfrew IT Division, the pace of technology has meant growth from four to twenty six supported site locations in a span of six years due to the sheer volume of Provincially downloaded services, such as Social Housing, Ontario Works and Provincial Offences Act administration. Encompassing all Local and Wide Area Networking; research, recommendations, procurement, installation and support of all corporate hardware and software, as well as telecommunications systems, our small department has it’s share of big challenges.
Reliance on technology in government today is tremendous; and a lot of it, if done well, is invisible. The “behind the scenes” technology that drives services has become mission critical across all divisions. IT has come to be viewed as a utility – like heat or hydro that we expect to be ubiquitously available and totally reliable. With a department of skilled, certified IT professionals enthusiastically providing a wealth of IT support, customer service has to be our top priority in all that we do.
We have earned ourselves a reputation of “Doing More with Less.” It’s not about technology itself, but rather, about what can be accomplished through technology. Combining our employees with technology, the County of Renfrew endeavors to provide its mandated services in the most efficient means possible.
