Child Care

April 01, 1999, Child Care services were transferred from the Province of Ontario to the County of Renfrew, and we became the Consolidated Municipal Service Manager to deliver child care in this area. We are the agency who performs assessment of parents' abilities to pay for child care. By following the Day Nurseries Act (DNA) and local policies, we determine a family's available monthly income. If a family qualifies, they may be able to obtain a subsidy space in a licensed child care centre.

There are a number of licensed child care agencies across the County of Renfrew who have subsidized spaces. We are also associated with Resource Centres and Nursery Schools in the County that serve families who may not require child care, but are looking for an option for their children to socialize, and have exposure to an early learning environment.

The Community Services Department has completed an operational review of child care services within the County of Renfrew. The final report was accepted by County Council on August 31, 2005. Click on the title to view the report:
