Well summer is underway and one of our focuses is on our summer project lists and involves the recruitment of 20 summer students. Once again our priority with our student workforce is that they have meaningful work experience while actually adding some value to the projects that need to be completed in the summer season. As always we challenge all our students to get the most from their experience when they come on board, whether they are returning or joining us for the first time. When I personally get the chance to first meet them, I always pose the same question; what is the most important thing about working for us during the summer season? Some of the responses are “priceless” but they quickly learn that the answer to that question is “their safety”!
We take pride in making sure that we do proper orientation and education in safe work practices and ensure that we promote a philosophy “if you are not sure if it is safe, do not do it”. We have maintained a 100% accident free rate with our student programs and plan to do everything possible to keep it that way, after all, these will be the leaders of the future. Have a safe summer.
