WHERE: COUNTY OF RENFREW MAIN ADMINISTRATION BUILDING, 9 INTERNATIONAL DRIVE-Council Chambers, PEMBROKE, ON
WHEN: FRIDAY JUNE 22, 2012 9:00 AM
The Renfrew County Catholic District School Board is building St. Francis of Assisi Elementary Catholic School in the Town of Petawawa and has requested $600,000 in non capital funding from the County of Renfrew to support the addition of a licensed child care space within the school. On the May 30th, 2012 meeting of County Council a bi-law was passed to provide the requested funds to the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board. The approval of this bi-law and the provision of the funds has been an accumulated effort on behalf of the County of Renfrew and the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board that spans six years, starting with the decision of the Best Start Network of Renfrew County to identify Petawawa as an area that required increased licensed child care spaces. The funding comes from a non conditional Best Start grant reserve that has been earmarked for this opportunity since 2006.
The Petawawa Military Family Resource Centre (PMFRC) will be the operator of the new daycare. The vision for the new daycare is to offer to the community services to toddler and preschool aged children. The daycare will be an inclusive daycare providing services to all members of the Petawawa community with a strong focus on quality of care. The target date for the grand opening of the new daycare is spring 2013.
A formal cheque presentation will be made on Friday June 22, 2012 at the County of Renfrew when County of Renfrew Warden Bob Sweet and Mayor Peter Emon, Chair of Social Services Committee present a cheque to Mr. Bob Schreader, Chair of the Renfrew County Catholic District School Board.
