Pembroke, (ON): The County of Renfrew Ontario Works remains committed to assuring that there will be a continuation of services throughout the CUPE Local 4989 labour disruption. We have a contingency plan in place to deliver services to participants in receipt of Ontario Works.
As our systems are automated, people receiving benefits will continue to receive them. There will be no break or disruption with benefits or monthly cheques. With income reporting statement submission approaching, we ask that Ontario Works recipients mail in their monthly Income Reporting Statements to their local office. The Pembroke office is open daily from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm. The Renfrew office is open Tuesdays and Thursdays from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm. People requiring emergency social assistance will be served.
Should Ontario Works recipients have any questions or concerns, they are encouraged to call their local Ontario Works office. Calls will automatically be forwarded to the Pembroke office at no cost to the caller. Applications for social assistance can be done online 24 hours a day, seven days a week at the following website: ontario.ca/socialassistance. If you do not have access to a computer, please call 613-732-2601 or 1-866-897-4849 for assistance.
Participants can obtain information about their case status or most recent cheque by calling the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) at 1-800-808-2268, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The County of Renfrew continues to remain hopeful that an agreement will be reached. We would like to take this opportunity to thank recipients and community partners for their patience and understanding during this labour disruption.
