Section 286(1) of the Municipal Act, 2001 provides that "A
municipality shall appoint a
Treasurer...", and Section 228(2) of the same Act provides that "A
municipality may appoint Deputy Clerks who have all the powers and
duties of the Clerk under this and every other Act".
The Finance Department
is, for
financial reporting purposes, a part of the Chief Administrative
Officer/Clerk's Department.
The department, by virtue of its functions, is
primarily responsible for the accounting and accurate financial
record keeping and operates as the Finance Department of the County.
