BM - Outbreak Notice

As of July 26, 2026 we are in a Confirmed Respiratory Outbreak on the HM1N home area. 

The following measures remain in place to mitigate the risk of transmission:

·                     All ill residents will be isolated to their rooms for a minimum of 48 hours

·                     All ill residents will be tested for respiratory viruses

·                     All residents will commence twice daily temperature checks and symptom screening

·                     Social outings and non-urgent medical appointments will be discouraged on the affected home area.

·                     ECGs are permitted in the home area, if an ECG is visiting an ill resident they must utilize PPE as per best practice guidelines. 

·                     If you are unsure about PPE requirements please follow up with a staff member

·                     General visitors are NOT to visit the affected home area

·                     Increased cleaning of high touch surface areas 

·                     Admissions to the affected home area will be done on a case by case basis in consultation with Public Health

·                     Large group activities will be discouraged for residents residing in the affected home area

·                     Small group activities on the affected home area can continue (maximum 5 ppl); individualized programming will continue.

·                     Staff will be co-horted,  as much as possible 

Staff and ECGs are MUST continue to don a medical mask whilst on the affected home area for the duration of their shift/visit. 

How can you protect the residents and others from illness?

·       Wash your hands: Wash your hands and your residents' hands often to reduce the spread of germs. Ask others to do the same.

·       Clean surfaces: Clean surfaces in our home that are touched often on a regular basis.

·       Use PPE as instructed: adhere to precautions and isolation instructions

·       Ensure you are up to date on your vaccinations

·       Practice social distancing

·       Do not visit the home if you are feeling unwell
