Reporting to the Facilities & Parks Coordinator, the Custodian is responsible for the maintenance, care, security, cleanliness and general custodial duties of municipal buildings.
Key Responsibilities/Duties:

Reporting to the Waterworks Supervisor, the Plant Operator position will form part of a team that operates and maintains the Town of Arnprior’s Class III Water Filtration Plant (WFP) and Class III Water Pollution Control Centre (WPCC). The responsibilities include performing a wide variety of maintenance, repair, and treatment activities associated with the operation of municipal water and sewage treatment facilities.
The primary responsibilities for this position include (but not limited to) the following:
- Ensure the proper functioning, operation and maintenance of the Water Filtration Plant (WFP), Elevated Water Tower, Water Pollution Control Centre (WPCC), and Wastewater Pumping Stations.
- Perform routine laboratory analysis and test, collect chemical and bacteriological samples.
- Set operational parameters or process that control the effectiveness and efficiency of the facility or subsystem.
- Follow the maintenance schedule by carrying out all maintenance and related work.
- Administer data entry, record keeping and complete reports as necessary.
- Ensure monitoring inspections, evaluations, and adjustments are properly recorded, including detailed work and maintenance records.
- Schedule and perform preventative maintenance checks and servicing on pumping equipment; ensure timely and accurate completion of preventative maintenance activities.
- Must carry out preventative maintenance, calibration and repairs of online water quality analyzers, ensuring accurate record entries are made of work completed.
- Diagnose operational problems and perform or direct necessary corrective action.
- Pack bearings, lubricate, clean and paint equipment.
- Operate town-owned vehicles and equipment including compressors, overhead hoists, portable and stationery generators, pneumatic, hydraulic and electric tools, and related tools and equipment.
- Take part in a rotating shift and standby as per schedule, must be able to respond
- within 30 minutes to a call-out when on standby.
- Undertake the requirements and responsibilities for an Operator in Charge (OIC)
- when designated.
- Assist with operations within the Water Distribution System and the Wastewater
- Collections System on an emergency basis as required, within permitted MECP
- requirements.
The successful candidate will have as a minimum the following qualifications:
- Grade 12 in Ontario or education qualifications that the MECP Director considers
- equivalent.
- A two (2) year post-secondary education in water and wastewater treatment, or
- related field.
- Meet all of the qualifications for Operator Licenses for the applicable certification in
- accordance with O.Reg. 128/04 – Certification of Drinking Water System Operators
- and Water Quality Analysts.
- Meet all of the qualifications for Operator Licenses for the applicable certification in

Reporting to the Program and Event Supervisor, the Program and Event Staff will provide operational support by providing direct leadership to various recreational programs offered by the Town of Arnprior’s Recreation Department, for all segments of the community.
The primary responsibilities for this position include (but not limited to) the following:
- Provide support to respective Recreation Staff including but not limited to the Director of Recreation, Program and Events Supervisor, Aquatic and Facility Services Supervisor, Recreation Programmer, key volunteers, fellow Program and Event Staff and facility maintenance staff.
- Perform direct instruction and leadership for a variety of recreational and sport programs offered by the Recreation Department. Reporting to the Facilities & Parks Coordinator, the Parks Operator position is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, and safe operation of Town-owned parks and outdoor recreation amenities.
The primary responsibilities for this position include (but not limited to) the following:
- Responsible for performing operational work and maintenance to the Marina, all Parks, Playgrounds, Beaches, Trails, Ball Diamonds, Outdoor Rinks along with any other outdoor facilities, structures or spaces that pertain to Recreation.
- Performing general grass cutting and trimming, pruning of trees;
- Preparing infields for use by dragging and lining;
- Keeping areas clear of debris;
- Deliver and setup equipment to different functions as required;

Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the part-time Facility Attendant supports full-time staff in maintaining Municipal buildings, equipment, and public spaces. Duties include cleaning, event support, light maintenance, and ensuring facilities are safe, clean, and ready for use. Seasonal tasks may involve marina operations and upkeep of parks, trails, and recreational areas.
The primary responsibilities for this position include (but are not limited to) the following:
- Responsible for the cleanliness, maintenance, and general upkeep of all areas within municipal facilities including arenas, spectator seating, pool decks, change rooms, washrooms, lobbies, meeting rooms, staff areas, workshops, and storage spaces. Tasks include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, window cleaning, trash and recycling removal, and snow/ice removal from entrances and walkways.
- Assist full-time custodial staff and Facility Operators with daily tasks such as ice resurfacing, basic ice maintenance, removing nets, cleaning benches, and maintaining pool and arena cleanliness. Operate custodial and maintenance equipment including vacuums, floor buffers, mops, and brooms safely and effectively.
- Follow functional direction from the Operations Supervisor and/or full-time staff to coordinate daily duties. Perform general repairs, report supply needs or equipment issues, maintain inventory of cleaning products, and ensure logbooks are completed for snow removal and other required reporting.
