Douglas hosts Taste of the Valley market for the first time on August 22
The County of Renfrew’s Economic Development Division is pleased to announce the return of Taste of the Valley, an annual event series celebrating the people, products, and experiences that make Renfrew County unique.
Originally launched more than a decade ago to showcase local food producers throughout the Ottawa Valley, Taste of the Valley has evolved into a vibrant celebration of the region’s agricultural, culinary, artistic, and entrepreneurial talent. Today, the series highlights not only local food and beverages, but also handcrafted products, visual arts, and cultural experiences created right here in Renfrew County.
The second Taste of the Valley event of the 2026 season takes place in Douglas on Saturday, August 22, and will be held at the Douglas Recreation Centre (5336 Highway 60, Douglas), from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The outdoor event will feature approximately 80 vendors offering fresh local produce, handcrafted goods, artwork, baked goods, prepared foods, and specialty products from farmers, food producers, artists, and artisans from across Renfrew County. With vendors situated both inside and outside, the market offers something to enjoy rain or shine. Visitors are encouraged to dress for the weather and spend the day shopping, exploring, and connecting with local producers and creators.
“We're incredibly excited to host Taste of the Valley for the first time in Douglas, right in the centre of Renfrew County,” said Admaston/Bromley Mayor Michael Donohue. “The breadbasket of the County, Admaston/Bromley teems with bountiful production whether from large horsepower modern farms, one horsepower traditional farms or market gardens. With the harvest now in full swing, come join us in Douglas where you'll find the freshest of foods along with unique, hand-crafted items from local Ottawa Valley farmers and artisans.”
Taste of the Valley 2026 events are being held in partnership with host municipalities across the County:
- Township of Admaston/Bromley – August 22, Douglas Recreation Centre
- Town of Petawawa – September 19, Petawawa Civic Centre
- Township of Whitewater Region – October 17, Cobden Fairgrounds
- Town of Renfrew – December 12, Holiday Edition, Renfrew Armouries
“Douglas is joining Taste of the Valley as a host community for the first time, and we are excited to see this event come to life,” said Scott Hamilton, Economic Development Coordinator with Invest Renfrew County, a sub-division of the County’s Economic Development Services. “It is a fantastic opportunity to showcase local businesses, connect consumers with producers, and celebrate the agricultural roots and entrepreneurial spirit that make Renfrew County unique.”
