The section in Renfrew County was officially named the Algonquin Trail, a subsection of the Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail.
The Algonquin Trail Advisory Committee was created to determine the use of the corridor. The Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail Management Plan and the Regulating Algonquin Trail By-Law were created feedback from the public open houses.
