Laurentian Valley Reeve Debbie Robinson, a well-known local journalist, who first ran for municipal council in 2006, and was re-elected in 2010. With almost eight years of experience as a councillor in 2014 she decided she needed a new challenge and put forward her name for the position of Reeve. She was acclaimed as the first female Reeve of Laurentian Valley.
During her first term as a County Councillor, Debbie has proven to be a strong voice around the council table. She is the Chair of the Social Services Committee and of the Renfrew County Housing Corporation, and she sits on the Finance and Administration Committee as well. As Laurentian Valley's Reeve, Debbie is Chair of Council's Planning and Economic Development Committee. Most recently she played an active role in the rebranding development of the municipality.
As the Reeve she is also responsible for keeping her Mayor and Council apprised of issues that arise at the County which may impact on their municipality. Reeve Robinson says “I'm confident we have the right men and women governing the County along with some extraordinarily talented staff, who together will ensure the County remains a place we are all proud to call home.”
