Laurentian Valley Township Reeve Acclaimed Warden for Third Term

Pembroke, (ON): Laurentian Valley Township Reeve Debbie Robinson has been acclaimed as Warden of the County of Renfrew for a third term. Debbie was nominated by fellow Councillor Michael Donohue, with Councillor Peter Emon as Seconder.

Warden Robinson will officially accept the Chain of Office for her third term following a brief ceremony at the inaugural session of County Council to be held on December 14th, 2021. Warden Robinson intends to continue pressing ahead on key issues of importance to County Council.

“It is a privilege to be acclaimed as the Warden of the County of Renfrew for a third year,” Warden Debbie Robinson shared. “I am inspired by the members of this County Council who continue to work diligently for the betterment of our residents, despite the challenges of the pandemic.”

“We have one year left in our term as municipal politicians and have no plans of letting up on our advocacy,” she added “It is our responsibility and intent, to ensure any plans the provincial government has to transform Health Care, Long Term Care, Ontario Works, Child Care, or Housing occur with the unique needs of rural residents always considered, “shared Warden Robinson.

“County Council has been very successful in getting the attention of the Provincial Government, especially this past year. With the aid of MPP John Yakabuski, many inroads were made with the Premier, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Long-Term Care and the Ministry of Municipal Affair and Housing. I look forward to 2022 and working alongside our MPP for the betterment of all of Renfrew County,” the Warden said.

Nominations for Warden closed on November 12, 2021, and no other members of County Council put forth their name as a candidate for Warden.

Warden Robinson has served in municipal government for the past 15 years, prior to that she was a local journalist, and deeply involved as a community volunteer, where she sat on boards of governance for many associations in the county.
